Life-Changing: Most favorite books in 2020

"Books simply help you to see what is already within your self."

A glimpse of my favourite books to read throughout the 2020. Enjoy!πŸ˜‰

1. Kami bukan sarjana kertas by J.S Khairen

A novel full of life lessons.πŸ‘

Best lines:

"Kalau gabisa jadi Kupu-kupu, jadilah kecoa. Tahan dalam segala gempuran."

"Berhenti, mundur, atau terus melaju? Jangan langgar hak impianmu. Tidak ada cerita untuk terjebak di tengah apalagi untuk mundur ke belakang. Impian itu sudah lahir, jangan kau bunuh"

2. Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus by John Gray

The differences between men and women captured in one book. Insightful.πŸ‘Œ

Best lines:

Men mistakenly expect women to think, communicate, and react the way men do; women mistakenly expect men to feel, communicate, and respond the way women do.

"Not only do men and women communicate differently but they think, feel, perceive, react, respond, love, need, and appreciate differently."

― John Gray

3. The laws of human nature by Robert Greene

A handbook of human psychology. 2 words: Life-changing! πŸ’–

“We tend to think of our behavior as largely conscious and willed. To imagine that we are not always in control of what we do is a frightening thought, but in fact it is the reality.”

“The world simply exists as it is–things or events are not good or bad, right or wrong, ugly or beautiful. It is we with our particular perspectives who add color to or subtract it from things and people.

 ― Robert Greene

4. The obstacle is the way by Ryan Holiday

A mindset remedy πŸ‘. 1 word: Breakthrough!

    Best lines:

“Failure shows us the way—by showing us what isn’t the way.”

5. Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World

'To a man with a hammer, everything looks like a nail' (Abraham Maslow)

Range= Generalists= jack of all trades

The handbook of generalists! Buku untuk para generalist biar tambah jadi generalist. wkwk

6. Poor Charlie's Almanack: The wit and wisdom of Charlie T. Munger

After reading his book, I love Charlie T Munger even more. His wisdom is just superb.

Favourite lines:

"I also think that one should recognize reality, even when one doesn't like it, indeed, especially when one doesn't like it."

“Spend each day trying to be a little wiser than you were when you woke up. Day by day, and at the end of the day-if you live long enough-like most people, you will get out of life what you deserve.”

“How to find a good spouse? -the best single way is to deserve a good spouse.”

“In my whole life, I have known no wise people (over a board subject matter area) who didn't read all the time - none, zero. You'd be amazed how much Warren reads - and at how much I read. My children laugh at me. They think I'm a book with a couple of legs sticking out.”

-Charlie T. Munger

6. The monk who sold his ferrari

Top book about mindset.
Best line:

“Everything is created twice, first in the mind and then in reality.”

7. How the world works by Noam Chomsky

The hand-book of world history & geopolitics. Speechless.

I can only think of William Shakespeare' s quotes when I read this book:

"All the world's a stage."

9. What got you here, won't get you there by Marshall Goldsmith

A handbook of attitude. Great πŸ‘

“Treat every piece of advice as a gift or a compliment and simply say, “Thank you.”

   -Marshall Goldsmith

  1. Hi Alya, I am Erick. I saw your post and was amazed by your book selection. In my opinion, 1984, Animal Farm, and How Coca Cola Took Over the World, are also interesting reads too. πŸ˜„
